Speaker COL Wendy Rivers

She Chose to Serve

Colonel Wendy Rivers was born in Charleston, SC on December 1968. She is a daughter, a sister of two brothers, a mother of two wonderful kids (Brian-32 & Brittany-23), a grandmother of two (Jamila-7 and Mi’anna-2) and a friend to all.

COL Rivers was commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army in 1992. She is an ROTC, Distinguished Military Graduate of Fort Valley State University where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Systems and a Minor in Business Administration. She earned two Master’s Degree in Telecommunications Management in 2006 from Webster University and in National Security Strategies from the National War College at Fort McNair, Washington DC in 2014. On 26 September 2014, she was promoted to the rank of Colonel.

In 28 years, COL Rivers has successfully served from Platoon Leader to Brigade Commander, selected from amongst her peers to attend Command and General Staff College (CGSC) in 2005 and the National War College in 2013. She served in the Pentagon, working in the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) in Acquisition, Technology & Logistics (AT&L). She successfully served as the 18th Brigade Commander of United States Army Information Systems Engineering Command (USAISEC) at Fort Huachuca, Arizona and is currently stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky serving as the Chief of Operations Support Division (OSD) at Human Resources Command (HRC).

COL Rivers served over 12 years throughout Europe, three assignments at Fort Huachuca, served in Bosnia in 1996 and deployed for 13 months to Kabul, Afghanistan from 2008-2009. While in Afghanistan, she served at CSTC-A CJ6 ANA advisor, Division Chief and Executive Officer to the CSTC-A CG. While overseas, COL Rivers led or cohosted at every duty station most EO cultural observances, food/clothes drives, Industry Tech Expos, Prayer Breakfasts, an ACS Community Single Parent Group and monthly/quarterly military and civilian mentorship/leadership development sessions.

As a long time public orator, COL Rivers has delivered over 400 speeches across units, schools/churches, at military/women’s events, at toastmaster activities, within industry organizations and at other community activities across the country since 1986.

She has selflessly volunteered countless hours across non-denominational churches, as a civilian/military mentor, elementary/middle/high school volunteer, Girls Scouts and now for the Boys and Girls Club of America. Throughout her career, she has passionately given her time, knowledge and support to all those in need at orphanages, hospitals, schools and public/private organizations. She is a LIFE member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc, the ROCKS, Inc, the VFW and the Signal Regiment.

She is passionate about her FAITH, family, giving back, mentoring, and the privilege to serve.


National Anthem Singer Kristen Kae

Nashville Recording Artist Kristen Kae hails from Louisville, KY. Kristen is a country music artist and will be releasing her first single in the fall of 2019. Kristen is also a member of the National Recording Artist Band The Highway Women, based out of Nashville, TN. Kristen is new on the music scene but has quickly made an impact with her strong vocals and vibrant stage presence. She is also a proud supporter of our Military being the daughter of an Army Veteran! Kristen is frequently asked to sing the National Anthem at events in the Fort Knox Region.
