During this COVID-19 crisis, leaders from the President to local school boards have had to make some very tough decisions based on available information and analysis including a variety of models used to track and predict the severity of the outbreak. Unfortunately, many of these models have proved to be inaccurate and misleading. In this webinar, Erik Kleinsmith, author of the recent book, Intelligence Operations: Understanding Data, Tools, People, and Processes will discuss and present methods for adapting intelligence methods to more effectively evaluate these models.

Speaker Bio

Erik Kleinsmith
AVP, Strategic Relations for Intelligence, National & Homeland Security, Cyber, American Military University
Mr. Kleinsmith is the Associate Vice President for Strategic Relations in Intelligence, National, Homeland and Cyber Security for American Military University (AMU). He has extensive experience in the intelligence and security related analysis and training along with experience in counterintelligence, information operations, and asymmetric threats and tactical military operations. He has spent over a decade as a US Army Armor and Military Intelligence Officer with tours to include command of a counterintelligence company and the Chief of Intelligence of the Army’s newly formed Land Information Warfare Activity (LIWA). As a defense contractor, Mr. Kleinsmith, created and grew the core of a US Army intelligence training program ultimately managing over 150 instructors before coming to American Military University. Erik is one of the subjects of the 2012 book, The Watchers, by Shane Harris for his involvement in the Able Danger program identifying and tracking al Qaeda terrorists prior to 9/11. He is also a member of a private investigation team responsible for revealing the identity of the notorious hijacker, DB Cooper. Erik is the author of numerous articles related to intelligence as well as the recent book Intelligence Operations: Understanding Data, Tools, People and Processes.
